Days 2-4: Nairobi - Lake Naivasha National Park

Day 2: After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel you will then be collected and driven to the domestic terminal at nearby Wilson Airport, from where you will take a charter flight on to Lake Naivasha. Later you will enjoy an afternoon game drive through the concession. (B,L,D) Day 3: One of the main reasons people visit this area is to witness the astonishing sight of the thousands of flamingoes that thrive on the waters of nearby Lake Nakuru. This vast carpet of pink provides a stunning photographic opportunity, as the birds flock to the algae rich waters to stand out in stark contrast to the surrounding hills and the dark waters. Rhino are also often spotted along the shoreline, affording a priceless opportunity to enjoy some close encounters with these magnificent animals. (B,L,D) Day 4: The game-rich plains of Loldia Ranch are home to a variety of big game, with lion and leopard often spotted tracking the abundant herds. The lodge can offer day and nighttime game drives through the area, as well as opportunities to take a guided tour of the nearby Hell's Gate National Park, where the addition of a picnic lunch allows the chance to spend a full day out exploring. (B,L,D)

Days 5-7: Lake Naivasha National Park - Maasai Mara National Reserve

Day 5: Taking breakfast on the lawns of the lodge, you'll then be transferred back to the airstrip for a flight south, towards the magnificent landscapes of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. A short drive on arrival then brings you to your next lodge, beautifully located on the banks of the Mara River. Lunch will be followed by a restful afternoon, before meeting up later for a game drive in the company of your experienced guide. (B,L,D) Day 6: A full day in the Mara provides a great opportunity to spend some time exploring the area by foot or vehicle. Home to some of the largest populations of big cats on the continent, as well as rhinos, crocodiles and more than 470 species of birds, the game viewing here is excellent. Between July and October each year the gathering herds of the Great Migration congregate on the plains surrounding the camp, providing an opportunity to perhaps witness their chaotic and dramatic crossing of the Mara River. (B,L,D) Day 7: A final full day in the Mara provides a great opportunity to enjoy one of the park's most memorable experiences - a sunrise hot air balloon trip. Leaving camp before dawn, you will soar over the Maasai Mara as the sun begins to appear over the distant horizon, providing a spectacular views of the vast plains below. Breathtaking in its scope, the trip ends with a champagne breakfast on landing, after which you will be driven back to camp. (B,L,D)

Days 8-10: Maasai Mara National Reserve - Mfangano Island

Day 8: After enjoying a final morning's game drive through the reserve, breakfast will be followed by a transfer back to the airstrip for the flight on to Mfangano Island, set in the heart of Lake Victoria. This delightful luxury hideaway will be your home for the next few days and you will be sharing it with a handful of visitors, some giant fig trees and a richly varied population of birds. An oasis of calm, it is the perfect way to finish off the adventure. (B,L,D) Day 9: You can choose from a variety of activities during your stay on the island including guided walks, birding excursions, fishing trips on Lake Victoria and visits to the local villages. Depending on their living from the waters of the world's largest tropical lake, the local Lou people present a very different way of life to the Maasai and your stay provides a unique opportunity to learn more about their customs and lifestyles. (B,L,D) Day 10: A chance to relax after the hectic pace the past few days makes Mfangano the ideal spot to recharge the batteries. From the privacy of your own room, or around the beautifully appointed swimming pool, the pace of life lends itself perfectly to enjoying a good book, a cool drink and the sumptuous views out across the lake.
